1. Manage your students with Courses and Classes


Every one of your students will be attached to a course, such as SAT or Upper Level ISEE. However, classes can be used to help you organize your students. Essentially, courses are like the subjects taught within a school (i.e. Algebra 2) while classes are the individual sections within those subjects. 


Piqosity automatically creates one class for each course when you add a course to your account, but you can create additional classes to organize your students into sections or groups. Once you've assigned your students to classes you can track their progress and create assignments at the class-level. 


To create a class follow the instructions below:

  1. From the Dashboard, click on the "Classes" Tile. 
  2. On this page you'll see all of your classes regardless of the course that they belong to. Click on the green "New Class" button. 
  3. Name your class something broad like "UL ISEE Students" or more specific like "UL ISEE Block 1".
  4. Select the course that the class will belong to.


Now, when you add a student on Piqosity you'll be able to add them to any of the classes that you create. 


2. Add Students


Piqosity has two ways to add students to your account: individual upload and batch upload. The individual upload feature is great for adding a couple of students at a time, and the batch upload feature is great for adding larger numbers of students at once. 


In order to add students to your courses follow these instructions:

  1. From the Dashboard, click on the "Students" tab. 
  2. Then, click the green "Add Student" button. You'll be prompted with a dropdown including "Add Single Student" and "Multiple Students".  
  3. Select the option that best fits your needs, and enter the relevant information. Piqosity will indicate the cost of adding your student(s) (which will depend on your educator group discount), and then you can proceed with your purchase. Note: you'll need to add a credit card for payment before creating any student accounts.   


If you added a student to a class and now want to switch them to another class, perform the following steps:

  1. From the Dashboard, select the "Classes" tab.
  2. Click the class that the student is currently in, which will take you to the class-level Dashboard.
  3. From the Class Dashboard select the "Students" tab. 
  4. Click the additional settings dots under the "Actions" column. 
  5. Select "Reassign" and enter the new course that you would like the student to join. 

Note: the new class must exist within the same course (i.e. an ACT student cannot be transferred to a class within Algebra 2).

3. Create Content


Piqosity has thousands of questions and hundreds of lessons for students to learn from. Still, Piqosity also allows educators to create their own content and lessons, or to create their own tests from existing content on Piqosity using the Drag and Drop feature.


All of Piqosity's content creation features can be accessed by clicking on "Content" in the Banner at the top of the screen:

4. Monitor Student Progress


Upon clicking on the "Courses" or "Classes" you'll see a table with stats for each of your students. These stats include the following metrics as a snapshot of your course or class as whole:

  • Goal Score
  • Current Score
  • Gap from Current to Goal Score
  • Gain (How much the student has improved from their baseline)
  • Baseline (The student's starting score)
  • Pace
  • Difficulty (The average difficulty of the questions the student has worked)
  • Questions Worked
  • Last Active Date
  • Meanwhile, to view these stats for each of your individual students, follow these steps:

    1. From the Dashboard, click on the "Courses" tab.
    2. Select the course containing the students whose stats you would like to see. This will take you to that course's Dashboard.
    3. From the Course Dashboard, click on the "Students" tab. 
    4. This page will show all the students in the selected course and their individual stats. 

Note: From the students page you can also click on a student's name or picture to view their account as if you were that student


5. Give Assignments with Due Dates


Teachers and Tutors can create assignments with due dates for their students. These assignments can include lessons, question sets, personalized practice sets, or full length tests. 


Assignments can be configured at the class or course level, and the assignment settings will allow you to determine which students receive your assignments. 


To access assignments from the course level, perform the following steps:

  1. From the Dashboard, select the "Courses" tab. 
  2. Select the course which contains the students who you would like to create assignments for. This will take you to that course's Dashboard.
  3. From the Course Dashboard, select the "Assignments" tab. 
  4. Click the green "Create Assignment" tab to configure your assignment's due date, content, and selected students.

6. Add Items to the Class Share Drive 


Piqosity's Share Drive allows Teachers and Educators to upload files or links to their courses, classes, or individual students. Students are able to download these files or visit these links right from their Piqosity Dashboards. 


In order to add an item to your Share Drive:

  1. Click on the "Course" tab from your Dashboard.
  2. Select the course for which you would like to upload documents, files, or links.
  3. From that course's Dashboard, select the "Drive" tab.
  4. Click the green "Add Item" button, and configure the item you'd like to upload.

7. Post Announcements to Your Class Stream


Educators can communicate with their students directly on Piqosity by posting to the Class Stream. The Stream is the first tab on the Educator Dashboard, and it allows educators to easily post messages to their students. 


To send a post educators can:

  1. Select the course that they'd like to send their post to.
  2. Specify the class which they would like to post to, or post to every student within a course by selecting "All Classes".
  3. If a class is selected, then educators can select individual students to receive their post.
  4. Enter the message they would like to send and click "Submit" to post to the stream.


8. Answer Student Questions

After students submit practice for scoring on Piqosity, they'll see answer explanations. However, sometimes there isn't a pre-existing explanation or the one that's there doesn't work for that student.


In this case, the student can request an answer explanation, and educators are asked to contribute a new one. Learn more how to Respond to Requests for Answer Explanations.


To answer a student's question:

  1. Select the "Courses" tab from the Dashboard, and click on the course which you'd like to see student questions for. This will take you to that course's Dashboard.
  2. From the course Dashboard, select the "Q&A" tab to see a table of student's questions and educator's answer responses.
