Piqosity's educator features are designed to help teachers and tutors manage their students as effectively as possible. All of Piqosity's educator features are quickly accessible from the Educator Dashboard. In this article we'll cover where to find each of the features on the Educator Dashboard. For a rundown on getting started with Piqosity check out our article on Getting Started as a Tutor or Teacher

The educator interface can be divided into two two different views:

  • The Educator Dashboard is the page you'll see when you first log in to your account.
  • The Course and Class Dashboards are the pages you'll see when you're working within a specific course or class.

While the Educator Dashboard is the default view, you can quickly pull up a course or class dashboard by clicking on the name of the course/class that you'd like to view.

The Educator Dashboard

The most important features on the Educator Dashboard are:

  1. The Banner
  2. Profile Information
  3. Piqosity News
  4. The Stream
  5. Courses
  6. Classes
  7. Students

  1. The Banner across the top of the screen allows you to toggle between different courses and pages on Piqosity. The Banner is always present regardless of the page you're on, so it can be used for quick navigation wherever you are on Piqosity.
    • Course allows you to quickly navigate to any of your Course Dashboards.
    • Students takes you to the Students page on Piqosity where you can add and manage your students. Note: you can switch into your students' accounts by clicking on any of their names. For more information check out our article on viewing students.

  3. Piqosity News keeps you up to date with all of Piqosity's latest news and blog articles.
    • Blog articles are created and updated weekly. They always contain useful insights on schools, testing, and other academic highlights.
  4. The Stream is the first tab on the Educator Dashboard, and it allows educators to easily post messages to their students.
  5. The Courses Tab shows you all of your courses in one place. It also includes a data-driven snapshot of your students performance in each course. Once Piqosity has enough information to track you'll see course-wide stats such as score, gap, gain and baseline.
    • To add another course to your profile click the "New Course" button.
  6. The Classes Tab shows you all of your classes in one place. Classes are a subsection of courses, and they can be created for greater organization of your students. You can have multiple classes within a course (i.e. "Block A" and "Block B").
    • Just like with the course tab, the classes tab will show you class-wide metrics on your students' performance.
    • To add another class to your profile simply click the "New Class" button.
  7. The Students Tab shows you all of your associated students (regardless of their course or class) in one place.
    • To add a student to your account just click the "Add Student" button. For more information on adding students check out our getting started article.
    • Note: you can switch into your students' accounts to see what they see by clicking on any of their names. For more information check out our article on viewing students

The Course Dashboard

The Course Dashboard is similar in layout to the Educator Dashboard. However, whereas the Educator Dashboard gives you a top down view of all of your courses, classes, and students, the Course Dashboard focuses on the classes and students within a particular class.

To access your Class Dashboard simply click on the Course tab as described above and click the name of the class that you'd like to access.

The most important features on the Course Dashboard are:

  1. The Banner
  2. Students
  3. The Course Stream
  4. Classes
  5. Drive
  6. Q&A
  7. The Course Outline
  8. Assignments
  9. Settings

    • Content provides quick access to Piqosity's content-creating features for educators.
    • Alerts is the hub for all of your Piqosity notifications.
    • Leaders shows the Piqosity Community's top educators and students in a given course.
    • Forum takes you to Piqosity's community page where users can connect.
  2. The Course Stream is the first tab on the Course Dashboard, and it allows educators to easily post messages to their students within the course.
  3. The Students Tab shows you all of your associated students for the particular course you're viewing in one place.
    • To add a student to your account just click the "Add Student" button. For more information on adding students check out our getting started article.
    • Note: you can switch into your students' accounts to see what they see by clicking on any of their names. For more information check out our article on viewing students.
  4. The Classes tab on your Course Dashboard will show you a list of all your classes within that course.
    • The Classes tab will show you various metrics for student performance averaged across the class.
    • To add another class to your profile simply click the "New Class" button.
  5. Piqosity's Share Drive allows Teachers and Educators to upload files or links to their courses, classes, or individual students. Students are able to download these files or visit these links right from Piqosity.
  6. The Q&A tab is used to monitor your students' questions about material on Piqosity. After students submit practice for scoring on Piqosity, they'll see answer explanations. However, sometimes there isn't a pre-existing explanation, or the one that's there doesn't work for that student. In this case, the student can request an answer explanation or ask a question about an existing one, and educators are asked to contribute a new one.
  7. The Course Outline shows the structure of the course that you're viewing in a syllabus style.
    • The Outline shows the primary sections of your course, and you can click the dropdown arrows to expand each section. The expanded view shows all of the topics in a given section.
    • The icons in each row indicate the number of topics, lessons, questions, and your students' accuracy in particular topics or sections.
  8. The Assignments Tab allows you to view the assignments that you have created for a given course and create new assignments with the assignment builder.
  9. The Settings Tab allows you to view and alter your settings on the course level.
    • Setting Hierarchy determines whether you would like to edit settings at the Class level or to control them for all classes at once at the Course level.
    • Stream Settings determine whether your posts should be sent to students via email or solely on Piqosity. They also control whether students can reply to your posts and create posts for themselves.
    • Archived allows you to archive the course for which you are viewing settings.
    • Student Timer sets the time standard for the course (regular time, 1.5x time, or 2x time). You can also allow overtime for your students. Keeping this overtime off will automatically end quizzes and tests when a student runs out of time.
    • Piqosity Virtual Tutor allows you to establish default PVT settings for all students within the course.
