Teachers and Tutors can assign their students lessons, question sets, and full-length tests with Piqosity's Assignments feature.

(Note that you do not have to assign students problem sets in order for them to use Piqosity. By default, any registered student can do practice sets or practice tests without specific assignments from a tutor or teacher.)

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Assignments

Step 1 - Head to your Course Dashboard.

From your Educator Dashboard, click on the "Courses" tab.

Then, click on the course that you would like to create an assignment for. This will take you to that course's Dashboard.

Step 2 - Find and open the Assignment tool.

Click the "Assignments" tab on the Course Dashboard. This page will show you all the assignments that you've created for the selected course.

To build an assignment click the green "Create Assignment" button.

Step 3 - Enter the Assignment's basic information and assign students.

Fill in the basics for the assignment. This includes the following (all fields are required):

  1.  Title - Give your assignment a name. The student will see the assignment name on their assignments page.
  2. Due Date - Assign a due date and time for the assignment.
  3. Type - Select individual or Instructor-Led.
    1. Individual: The student will work alone, and the assignment will factor into Piqosity's statistics and score predictions.
    2. Instructor-Led: The student will work with their peers or with you, and you don't want the assignment to factor into Piqosity's statistics and score predictions.
  4. Directions - Enter directions for the assignment, which the student will see on the assignments page and on the first page of the assignment.
  5. Assigned Students - Select the students who will work this assignment by checking the box next to their names. You will see all the students who are in the course you're using the assignment builder for (i.e. ISEE Upper Level, ACT, etc.). You may select multiple students.

Step 4 - Add lessons and questions to your assignment and rearrange it with Drag and Drop.

Once you have filled out the basics and selected your students, you can add sections to the assignment by clicking the "+" tab.

Each time you click the "+" button you'll have to decide if the new section is lesson-based or questions-based (described below).

A. Selecting "Lessons" will show a list of all lessons in the course. By default, this list only shows lessons written by Piqosity's content team (which span the entire course). To search for your own lessons, click the "x" next to the "Piqosity Official" column, and then search for your name.

Check the box on the left of the row to select a lesson.

You can select one lesson per section for a student to review as part of the assignment.

B. Selecting "Questions" will allow you to create question sets from several sources:

  1. Personalized Practice automatically selects questions according to a student's weakest areas or where they haven’t yet practiced. Learn more about the Personalized Practice interface
  2. My Tests and Units allows you to assign content that you've created on Piqosity with the Test Builder.
  3. All Tests and Units allows you to assign content from all approved sources on Piqosity. By default, this tab is filtered to only show content from Piqosity's content team. To search for other educators' public tests, click the "x" next to the "Piqosity Official" column, and then search for their name.

Step 5 - Rearrange, edit, and delete sections as needed.

All of the work you do in a section is automatically saved. To edit a section, simply click on the tab for the section you want to edit.

Sections can be deleted by clicking the "x" in the section's tab.

If you'd like to change the order of sections on your assignment, you can do so by dragging and dropping sections within the "Assignment Summary" container on the "Basics" tab.

Step 6 - Submit your assignment to save and send it to students.

Once you have created your assignment, click the blue "Submit" button at the top of the container. It will be sent to all the students that you designated in the "Assigned Students" container.
