1. Exam Content and Settings

When you click into an exam, you are met with this initial screen:

  1. Timing can be changed either by clicking on the blue highlighted portion or in the user settings. All future quizzes will be affected by these choices. The different timing options include:
    • Standard timing
    • 1.5x Extra Time
    • 2x Extra Time
  2. Settings are divided into four sections:
    • Educator-Led Practice: Educators are able to walk students through an exam without their scores counting towards their progress or score stats.
    • Overtime: When time expires on an exam, you can keep working without being kicked out.
    • Hide Timers: The exam timer at the top of the screen as well as the question timer in the bottom left corner are hidden, unless you click to reveal them once again.
    • Read Out Loud: Enabling this feature will read each question out loud to you.
  3. Contents details what you will see on the exam, outlining the sections along with their question counts and allotted time.
  4. The Start Test button begins the exam, and the Save and Exit button saves your place and exits to the Dashboard.

2. Section Contents Page

The section contents page shows the question count and allotted time for the upcoming test section, which is highlighted.

3. Test Interface - Basics

Our standard test interface includes these components:

  1. The Quiz Timer shows the time allotted for the section you are currently working. It can be hidden and shown by clicking the stopwatch.
  2. The Questions Timer works the same as the Quiz Timer, counting how long you take on each question.
  3. The Directions detail what to do for the section you are working and how the questions you will see are organized.
  4. The Mark for Review option marks a question to go back to later.
  5. The Calculator button reveals the integrated Desmos calculator, if allowed for the current question.
  6. Answer Choice Selection: The answers are each listed with a letter. Click on an answer choice to select it.
  7. Eliminate answer choices by clicking the circled X.
  8. Scratch is used as a space to work through problems or record important notes. It is also used to read and annotate image-based passages.
  9. The Pause button gives you the option to Save and Exit from the quiz or Resume.
  10. Navigate through questions linearly using the Back/Next buttons.
  11. You are able to jump from question to question through the Navigation button. This will be explained in more detail below.

4. Test Interface - Dual Column Mode

For tests involving passages with multiple questions revolving around them, dual column mode makes it easier to navigate and organize your thoughts:

  1. Notes Button: Allows you to attach a note to the highlighted selection. See the notes organized in the "Show" tab, where you can make edits and keep track of your annotations.
  2. Highlight and Underline: You can choose between yellow, blue, and red highlight and underline points of interest.
  3. Read Out Loud: You have the option to have the passages read aloud to you, with the ability to start and stop the audio at any time. Remember to enable this setting before the test.

5. Test Navigation

The "Question" dropdown at the bottom of the screen allows to navigate between questions within the section. It populates as such:

You can filter the questions in this modal based on whether you have marked them for review as well as whether you have answered them. Clicking "Go to Review Page" will take you to the "Check Your Work" page, explained below.

6. Check Your Work

At the end of each section, this screen prompts you to check your work. If you have time remaining, you can go back review questions by clicking on their tiles.

7. Self-Assessment

The Self-Assessment is a brief survey about your experience taking the exam. You must answer the three questions to view your results. If desired, record any "notes to self" in the General Thoughts field.

Once you have answered completed the Self-Assessment, you are taken to the Results page for the exam. More information about navigating and understanding this page can be here.
