The Holistic Review Page shows your performance across multiple courses. Because Piqosity courses are linked together by question microtopics at the question level, we can track your performance in related courses even if you have not specifically worked in them.

In this article, we'll discuss how to access the Holistic Review page and some of the major features found on the page.

Microtopics

Microtopics

On Piqosity courses are organized into topics (like "Mathematics" on the ACT or "Verbal Reasoning" on the ISEE) and their constituent subtopics (like "Exponent Rules" within ACT Science). We've developed microtopics as a way to bridge courses together. After all, while the types of questions may be different, learning Exponent Rules for the ACT will surely help students with the same topic in their Algebra 2 course.

Microtopics are not tethered to any one course, and they are tagged to individual questions. That way, a microtopic can show up in a variety of courses based on where it's questions appear.

Microtopic examples:

  • Evaluate an Expression
  • Identify Circle Equations from their Graphs
  • Division with Whole Numbers & Fractions

Prerequisites & Progressions

Creating all these microtopics is the first step in establishing a bridge across courses. The second step is creating sequences for microtopics. For example, a student who is going to work with systems of linear equations needs to first know what linear equations are. And before they understand linear equations, they should probably understand combining like terms and function notation. This is where "Prerequisites" and "Progressions" come into play.

Prerequisites are the microtopics that lead up to a given microtopic.

Progressions are the microtopics that a given microtopic leads into.

Accessing the Holistic Review Page

The Holistic Review Page is accessible from any page where the top navigation bar is present. Click on "Content" to expand the content menu and then select "Holistic Review" from the dropdown.

Filtering on the Holistic Review Page

There are multiple filtering options on the Holistic Review Page. These allow you to isolate microtopics by the courses their questions show up in. Refer to the annotated screenshot below for a rundown of the different filtering options.

  1. Course Dropdown - Allows you to filter by a single course or multiple courses like "All Math Courses" or "Test Prep Courses".
  2. Primary Course Filter - You can also filter by clicking on the courses in this container. In the example above, the student is filtering by the "Algebra 1" course because the box is teal while the other boxes are greyed out. Only your primary courses will show in these boxes. You can edit primary courses on your Edit -> Profile page.

Understanding the Microtopics Table

  1. Worked Microtopics Tab - The worked microtopics tab shows all the microtopics within your selected filter that you have worked at least 1 question in.
  2. All Microtopics Tab - The all microtopics tab shows all the microtopics within the course that are
  3. Course - The course that the microtopic shows up.
  4. Microtopics - The name of the microtopic.
  5. Difficulty - The average difficulty of the questions that fall within this microtopic and filter you've selected.
  6. Questions - The number of questions that fall within this microtopic and filter you've selected.
  7. Attempted - The number of questions you've answered within the given microtopic.
  8. Accuracy - Your accuracy on questions that fall within this microtopic.
  9. Last Activity - The last time you worked a question in this microtopic.

Viewing an Individual Microtopic

You can see more details on a given microtopic by clicking on it's name. Refer to the annotated screenshot below for a list of the items on an individual microtopic's page.

  1. The class icon indicates the number of lessons that are tagged to this microtopic.
  2. The hollow question mark icon indicates the number of questions that are tagged to this microtopic
  3. The balance icon indicates the average difficulty (rated from 1 to 9) of all the questions tagged to this microtopic.
  4. The solid question mark icon indicates the number of questions tagged to this microtopic that you have worked.
  5. The target icon indicates your accuracy on questions in this microtopic.
  6. Prerequisites are the microtopics that lead up to a given microtopic.
  7. Progressions are the microtopics that a given microtopic leads into.
  8. These tabs allow you to navigate between three tables:
    • Courses shows you the various courses that the questions of this microtopic show up in.
    • Lessons shows you the lessons, if any, that are tagged to this microtopic.
    • Questions shows you all of the individual questions tied to this microtopic.
